One of my favorite cardmaker/artists is Lin Brandyberry and I check out her blog every day to admire her beautiful creations. In today's post, she used a technique that uses all those pretty embossing folders we all have to stamp an image (see second card, although I want the stencil for the first one too!) This technique was taught in a video by Audrey and I just had to try it.
I would caution that despite cleaning up my embossing folders immediately, there is a faint stain of color on both of them. However, I don't think there is enough to rub off on future embossing. Here's the two I tried, one using daubers and distress paint, and the second one using ink pads and a dauber. For both of them I misted with a mixture of perfect pearls and water, although of course that doesn't show up.
Update 4/29/14. I actually tried embossing the floral one. Due to the side of the folder used to apply ink, the result is a debossed texture rather than embossed. One of these days I'll try inking the opposite side of the folder as she mentioned in the video -- I should be able to emboss that side.
I especially like the swirly blue one -- maybe repeat patterns work better. I also think it would be possible to put the piece back in the folder, line it up carefully, and actually emboss it. I like the look in any case and will no doubt do this again.

Gorgeous! Jo x
